Rua de S. José
Rua de S. José is one of the Macao’s earliest cobblestone streets. Its name is registered in the Macau Government Gazette, which published a list of Macao’s street names in 1869. Here, a church and a temple stand facing each other, contributing to the street’s unique charm. The street is named after an architectural complex to the north, known as "Sam Pa Chai" in Chinese, which comprises the St. Joseph's Seminary and Church. Rua de S.José was constructed after "Sam Pa Chai" was built.
