To facilitate students' protection and proper use of the garbage collection facilities on the streets, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) organises this competition to let students design ornamental surfaces of compacting trash bins, so as to promote the concept “Our City, a Clean City". Some of the winning entries will be made into ornamental adhesive plastic sheets affixed on compacting trash bins to change their monotonous impression. The competition also encourages students to cherish these facilities and maintain environmental hygiene together.
Eligibility
All students studying in primary schools this school year can enter the competition. The two categories are:
- Lower primary: Primary one to three
- Upper primary: Primary four to six
Prizes
First place (one per category): Book and stationery gift coupon worth MOP3,000 and certificate
Second place (one per category): Book and stationery gift coupon worth MOP2,000 and certificate
Third place (one per category): Book and stationery gift coupon worth MOP1,000 and certificate
Merit prize (five per category): Book and stationary gift coupon worth MOP500 and certificate
* An awards ceremony for the competition will be held, and the winners will be invited to attend the ceremony. Winning entries may be made into ornamental adhesive plastic sheets affixed on compacting trash bins to be displayed on the streets.
Requirements of entries
- Using “you create ornamental surface of garbage bins" as concept, the theme of the entry can be determined by the contestant;
- The contestant is required to design an image and colour it on designated paper of the competition, and submit it with a text description of the design concept 50-100 words long;
- The contestant is advised to use the designated paper provided by IAM or print it on A3 paper by himself/herself;
- The design can contain Chinese, Portuguese or English words;
- The entry cannot contain any information and markings for identification;
- The contestant can refer to the existing designs of ornamental surfaces of compacting trash bins on the IAM Environmental Information website (https://www.iam.gov.mo/macaohygiene/e/beautification_plan/grids)
Grading criteria
- Theme: 5%
- Text description: 15%
- Suitability for beautification of compacting trash bins: 20%
- Creativity: 30%
- Overall appearance: 30%
Terms and conditions
- The winning entries may be made into ornamental adhesive plastic sheets affixed on compacting trash bins to be displayed on the streets;
- IAM has the right to make suitable adjustments to the winning entries;
- The copyright of the winning entries belongs to IAM and IAM has the right to amend and use the entries;
- The entries cannot contain vile, offensive, illegal or inappropriate information;
- The entries must be original designs which have not been made public and the contestants are required to be responsible for copyright issues;
- The winners are required to produce their identity cards and student cards for verification.
Methods for obtaining designated paper
- Obtain from Mong Ha Eco-Centre of IAM (address: Rampa do Forte de Mong Há, Macau);
- Download and print (using A3 paper) from Environmental Information website (www.iam.gov.mo/macaohygiene).
Methods of submission of entry
Submit the entry with a completed application form to Mong Ha Eco-Centre of IAM within the registration period.
Deadline for submission of entries
5:30 p.m. on 28 March 2025
Announcement of results
The list of winners will be announced on the Environmental Information website of IAM in May 2025. The winners will be notified by designated personnel about the details of the awards ceremony.
