As the rainy season and typhoon season is approaching Macao, the tree maintenance staff of the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) have hastened to check the trees in the various districts in Macao. Trees which are not in good health condition or have structural defects are re-checked, and trimming and maintenance work of trees have been arranged. Meanwhile, routine trimming is carried out on trees which have overly dense branches to reduce the weight and wind exposure area of the tree crowns and lower the risk of trees collapsing during rainstorms. During the trimming process, the public are urged not to enter the work areas to avoid accidents.

Currently, the trimming of large trees in sections of streets such as Rua de Francisco Xavier Pereira, Rua de Santa Clara and Rua Marginal do Canal das Hortas have been completed. The trimming of trees in sections of streets such as Estrada da Vitória, Rua Norte do Mercado Almirante Lacerda, Sai Van Lake Square and Rua Central de T'oi Sán are in progress. Parts of the traffic lanes will be used during the trimming, so the public are reminded to pay attention to the temporary traffic control arrangements in the mentioned streets.
