The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) is currently optimising the fitness facilities in various leisure areas for the public to enjoy more comfortable leisure spaces and better user experience. During the first phase, IAM will replace the old fitness facilities in Leisure Area of Seaview Garden, Temporary Leisure Area in Travessa do Armazém Velho, Leisure Area in Praça de Jorge Álvares, and Leisure Area in Estrada Marginal da Ilha Verde.
The leisure areas in Macao serve as venues for the public to have fun, relax and keep fit, and their fitness facilities are very popular. As some facilities have been installed for many years and are frequently used, they show varying degrees of wear and tear, or even are not able to be repaired and refurbished due to missing parts. In order not to affect the daily use of the public, IAM will successively optimise the fitness facilities in the leisure areas. A total of 30 fitness facilities in the above four leisure areas will be replaced in the first phase, including air walker machines, exercise bikes, ellipticals, etc.
Afterwards, relevant optimisation plans will be carried out to replace 116 fitness facilities in the following 16 leisure areas, including Leisure Area in Avenida de Demétrio Cinatti, street facilities near Edf. Mei Lin in Rua do Mercado de Iao Hon, Leisure Area in Rua Quatro do Bairro Iao Hon, Leisure Area in Beco da Melancia, Leisure Area in Rua Quatro do Bairro da Areia Preta, Temporary Leisure Area in Pátio dos Velhos, Leisure Area in Rua de Lei Pou Ch'ôn, Leisure Area in Rua de Tomás Vieira, Leisure Area in Rua Marginal do Canal das Hortas (next to Caritas), Temporary Leisure Area in Beco do Cavalo, Leisure Area in Largo do Aquino, Leisure Area in Estrada Marginal da Ilha Verde, Temporary Leisure Area in Rua de Inácio Baptista, Leisure Area in Avenida Marginal do Lam Mau, Leisure Area in Travessa da Central Térmica, and Leisure Area in Travessa 1º de Maio (fitness facilities for children). IAM apologises for any inconvenience caused to the public during the construction period.
At the same time, IAM has stepped up inspections of the leisure areas and occasionally found facilities defaced with illegal graffiti. It takes time to clean up and repair the facilities, and sometimes it is even necessary to replace the entire facility, affecting the normal use of the public. Therefore, IAM calls on the public to cherish public property and maintain a beautiful and clean community.
