According to the information from the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau, Macao will be continuously affected by a trough of low pressure in the middle and latter parts of this week, bringing about heavy showers and squally thunderstorms. To reduce the impact of the wind and rain on trees in the city and ensure public safety, the tree maintenance staff of the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) have stepped up inspections, examinations and arrangements of trimming and maintenance of street trees in multiple districts. In addition, tree support and reinforcement works have been carried out whereas dangerous trees have been removed to safeguard public safety.
IAM has successively arranged trimming, maintenance and dangerous tree removal works for the trees in Estrada do Arco, Avenida Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, Rua Central da Areia Preta, Praceta do Bom Sucesso, Rua Seis do Bairro Iao Hon, Rua da Doca Seca, Rua da Praia do Bom Parto, the section of Avenida de Sidónio Pais near Tap Seac Square, the section of Avenida do General Castelo Branco near Avenida do Comendador Ho Yin, as well as Avenida Olímpica, Rua dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental and the Leisure Area in Avenida do Oceano in Taipa, etc. During the tree trimming period, the public are advised to pay attention to the temporary traffic arrangements of the road sections concerned and refrain from entering the work areas to avoid accidents.
